Handwovens -
MK Custom Idaho Handwovens saddle blankets and rugs are woven on either a 4-harness floor loom or 2-harness tapestry loom, creating heavy, medium and light-weight textiles, depending on the yarn and weave structure. All saddle blankets and most rugs and wall hangings are 100% wool - both warp and weft. The saddle blankets work best as a top blanket over a wool pad. Wool has a natural 'wicking' ability that draws moisture from the horse's back through the blanket to the outside where it can evaporate. This action helps keep the horse's back cooled and reduces the occurrence of scald marks as often occur with cotton or synthetic saddle blankets.

Rugs, Table Runners and Wall Hangings -
Wool blankets and rugs require only a moderate amount of care. Loose dirt and debris can be removed from the surface with a soft brush or vacuumed with a hose attachment (low suction). Blankets and rugs can also be hand-washed in a tub of cool water and a mild soap such as Eucalan and air dried; they should never be placed in a clothes dryer or washed with hot water. Blankets and rugs can also be dry cleaned.
Saddle blankets are available in single and double sizes, and can be sized to make attractive rugs and wall hangings. Unless otherwise indicated, all yarn is Navajo-Churro wool. Wear leathers for saddle blankets are available; please ask for current price.
